Thrush - Candida
Many female clients consult to regarding thrush
related gynaecological problems. Candida symptoms may also include:
tiredness, mood swings, depression, poor concentration, headaches,
forgetfulness, increased appetite, sugar cravings, food cravings,
bloating, weight gain, fluid retention, increased allergic reactions,
vaginal thrush, genital itch, skin problems, changes in libido,
insomnia, and others.
It is widely accepted that Candida is a health
problem mostly related to nutritional sugars and yeasts. This
explanation is over simplistic, as everyone has Candida in their
body.
So there has to be a reason why in some people
Candida growth gets out of control and causes health problems.
This over growth is aggravated by nutritional sugars and yeasts,
but is not caused by them. Candida is a secondary health problem.
There must be an active primary health problem for -its overgrowth
to cause unpleasant symptoms.
The primary causational factors of Candida overgrowth
can include: all causes of immune suppression (including taking
antibiotics hormones or other medication), vitamin or mineral
or nutritional depletion, aids, cancer, infection, all hormonal
imbalance states, all forms of stress, etc.
Thrush Case History.
Marlene contacted me about two years ago, regarding
her five year struggle with thrush, sugar cravings and constipation.
Nothing she tried had relieved her almost constant itch due to
thrush. Other health problems included PMS, depression and irritability,
and severe menstrual pains.
Marlene's iridology showed that a strong nervous
system and that her stomach was under active. Also her lymphatic
system was congested, and there also were signs of general toxicity.
It appeared that her lifetime struggle with constipation had produced
general toxicity, which had over time impacted her liver health
and digestive ability. This is Marlene's primary health problem,
which lay the ground'for the normal Candida in her body to get
out of control in the first place.
Marlene was shocked when I explained that "yeast
was not her primary problem". "Well what is", was her response.
I said " just imagine that your car is broken down. You could
phone for a tow-truck to come and tow your car around with you
sitting in it and get around that way. But your cars primary problem
will not get found nor fixed that way".
Chronic Candida is a almost never a primary problem,
it is generally a secondary problem. So there has to be something
wrong with your health for constant overgrowth to occur. This
is why many people find it hard to cure chronic Candida problems.
It is also the reason dietary change helps, but usually does not
cure, as diet is not the underlying health problem. Poor diet
will increase Candida overgrowth and increase symptoms. Good diet
will not necessarily cure Candida overgrowth.
After Marlene's check up I recommended she go
on an nutritional program reducing wheat and all other gluten
grains shellfish pork caffeine and citrus juices. I also suggested
she take a herbal liver tonic, a natural body acid balancer, an
immune enhancing multi vitamin, a magnesium complex, a digestive
enzyme that included herbs, a herbal tonic, and a homoeopathic
tonic that I mixed for her.
I was confident that by improving Marlene's mineral
balance her sugar cravings would diminish. This would make fruit
and vegetables more appealing to her palate. Then by eating some
fruit and much more vegetables, Marlene's mineral balance and
constipation would improve. I also recommended sour dough bread
as this bread-making process ensures that all minerals are well
absorbed.
After the first month her itch had reduced, it
was now bearable and no longer constant. ' Marlene's sugar cravings
diminished, and she looked much happier. Her vitamin program now
changed to include primrose oil, and a different herbal mixture
and homoeopathic tonic.
After the second month depression menstrual pains
and irritability had also improved. Marlene felt her program was
really improving her digestion and gynaecological system too.
After a total of four months she was feeling
that her digestion was working much better, and her seasonal hay
fever was far less severe than in previous years.
